She said that it has become more common for publishers to pay for specialist readers since that time. I feel that I have read many books over time that could have benefitted from such contributions.The story rollicks along and looks at situations from multiple viewpoints. I will certainly seek out the author’s work in the future. After all, who doesn’t like an involving story with multiple fascinating characters and situations?

When this story opens, Mercedes Moreno is a budding artist suffering from creative block, due to several factors: Her beloved grandmother has suffered a stroke, and her mother is in San Juan at the grandmother's bedside. As if that wasn't enough, Mercedes has confusing feelings for her best friend. All of this has kept Mercedes from being able to express herself through her art, although she has tried many times.Inspiration comes in the form of a new neighbor, who introduces Mercedes to a group of artists at the mysterious Red Mangrove Estate, an old, formerly abandoned building near her home. Mercedes learns that she can be creative at the Estate in ways she never has before. However, the rules of the Estate are that she cannot take anything off the premises.The choices Mercedes must make -- about her creativity, her family, her best friend, and the direction of her life -- are not easily resolved, and that is what makes this tale such a realistic portrait of self-discovery.I loved the descriptions, the imagery, the character development, and particularly the relationships between the characters (Mercedes and her sister, her mother, her best friend, and her grandmother). A great read for young adults, and for all ages!

It's here that Mercedes begins to unravel some of her quandries.Karcz creates both compelling storylines and characters, realistic and engaging. Mercedes Moreno is both unique, yet a person to whom all of us can relate and cheer for.

Beautifully and engagingly written, The Gallery of Unfinished Girls moves both quickly and slowly at the same time, and I think this has something to do with the surreal elements that make this novel so difficult to put down. It's exciting and tender, funny and heartbreaking, and every other perfect paradox you could ever really imagine.I'm not a big YA reader, so in all honesty, I don't know how this book fits into the overall genre. But, as I read, I kept thinking to myself: this is not YA - its thematic elements are refreshingly, painfully, and honestly adult, but placed in a high school environment. It speaks to questions of identity and "why the heck am I here and what am I 'supposed' to do vs what I 'want" to do," which as an almost 30 year old reader...well, let's just say that it hits home...in a very good, very challenging, and very cathartic way. It's an amazing read...please don't miss this one.

I loved this powerful, smart young adult novel. Great for readers 14+.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book--could not put it down! As interesting as the plot is, the artistry of the language is what I loved most. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I've been reading this book to refresh my memory on digital signal processing. It is a good book, lots of theory in there, however it is a bit dry in its explanations, there are a lot of results (for example the value of a certain number series) that just are presented out of the blue while the reader scratches his head trying to come up with the missing steps. It starts from scratch but its not a freshman's book, I would say senior to graduate level. Overall its a good book, and you cant beat the price of the International Edition.

Our son needed this book for his Electrical Engineering program, which he finished, with a solid 4.0 GPA! Now he is debating his Phd in EE or to go on to Medical school. Thanks for a great price and quick shipping of this book.

Great explanation for every fundamental concepts. For instance, authors give a deep introduction about the background and purpose of Fourier Series and transform in Ch 4. The book demonstrates great details of Fourier Transform by constructing from mathematic components to a whole picture of Fourier Transform.This textbook explains almost everything and provides much more details than the current textbook I am using in UCLA. I guess this textbook also much better than most textbooks, since most textbooks don't even bother to cover the real fundamental concepts.However, as I reading along ch.4, there are many typo, but they all format problems so far. Ex. superscript, "x2" = x*x. integration from nothing to w, because it's lower limit become part of integral value.But still, this is a great book without a doubt!!!

While very easy to read and understand, the material covered is presented with sufficient depth. Practical examples and applications of material presented throughout the entire work.

This is a really well written and organized book. The development of the material follows a logical succession of topics, which makes this book a fantastic source to learn the subject from, and also a good reference for those that already know the subject matter. The reason for only 4/5 stars is mostly due to the poor coverage of terms in the index, which makes it hard to find where a particular concept is first introduced and defined. This is likely more of a problem for a DSP novice like me in trying to use the book as a reference. There are also numerous typographical errors in cross references and formulas in problem definitions, which I would have expected to be corrected by the 4th edition.

The book gives a great explanation of the concepts, and provides lots of details and examples. I am using this book for a graduate course and it is really easy to read. My book came well packaged and is almost like new.

Most of the book is OK, but there are printing/binding errors on pages 80-90.I would not have bought this textbook anyway if it weren't required for a class, so I cannot comment on the pros/cons of this book as compared to other DSP books.

The reader is better to have some background on DSP, such as Signal Processing First by McClellan, prior to study this book. This book provides more theories, examples and much more problem assignments which won't exist in elementary DSP books. Fortunately, one could find a problem solution guide in.pdf format. I applied the MathCAD 14.0 to solve the problem assignments and found a couple of typing errors in the solution guide. I also worked on some examples and the following work proved the "typing error" I found recently:For example, Example 9.3.1 (pg.594): I found two "typing errors" in nominators of recombining pairs of poles in H(z). The first numerator should be "-14.747+12.893z^-1" and the second numerator should be "24.708+2.343z^-1" rather than "-14.75-12.90z^-1" and "24.50+26.82z^-1". Hence, the A1, A2, A3 and A3* are correct--after verifying with MathCAD 14.0. I simply applied the "invztrans" function to transform the H(z) equation to corresponding h(n) counterpart, applies the plots of pole-zero, Impulse Response, and/or Frequency Response. The plots of Impulse Response of h(n) verified my correction.The solution manual is a great helper on assisting me to work on more problem assignments with confidence--It's the reason why I decided to purchase this textbook rather than other advance DSP books.I strongly recommend this textbook to those readers plan to learn more on studying the DSP technology.

It was bound to happen. It was Black History Month, I had just gone to a Martin Luther King Jr. memorial service, and then attended my quarterly Presbytery meeting where my denomination is presently in the topsy-turvy toils of hammering out how to pursue racial reconciliation. So there I was at a Lifeway bookstore looking for commentaries on Proverbs to help with a new sermon series when I turned around and saw it, squeezed in tight between other books on pastoral issues. I thought to myself, “Well, I’ve never read this fellow, but the book looks perfect for this month,” and snatched up a copy of “Liberating Black Theology: The Bible and the Black Experience in America.” This 208 page paperback is written by Anthony B. Bradley, associate professor of theology and ethics at The King's College, Research Fellow for the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty, and a commentator on current issues for major broadcast media to include NPR and CNN/Headline News, and is for thoughtful adults, pastors, historians of Black History in America and theologians.“Liberating Black Theology” is meant to be an introductory foray into black liberation theology, teasing out many of its clear ideas and some of its subtle nuances. Bradley’s evident focus is “on the role that victimology has played in the rise and fall of black liberation theology” and that this view of perpetual victim is its “major flaw” (14). The author unpacks, in five out of his six chapters, how this starting assumption of victimhood has played out in, on the one hand, adopting Marxism as an ethical framework in black liberation theology, and on the other hand, fostered an “ever-greater separation from the Scriptures as well as from the mainstream black church” (189). The historical and ideological study between the covers of this book is helpfully clarifying for all who are involved in making headway in the areas of Biblical justice and racial resolution within Christ’s Church.Though Bradley brings out helpful correctives all the way through the book, it’s in the sixth chapter that he pointedly maps out the way forward, “Is There a Future for Black Liberation Theology?” Here is a plan that “is not grounded in a victimized black identity but is grounded in the necessary trajectory of God’s redemptive mission” (180). The author sketches out five areas that are essential to moving black liberation theology back onto a solid foundation that will enrich the whole of Christ’s Church, and bless the black church in America. The starting point is to return to the absolute of the Trinity, and then to embrace unequivocal place of the primacy of biblical authority. Next, flowing from the first two items is to reaffirm human dignity that is substantiated by our being created in the image of God, instead of race. Bradley moves on and points to the importance of rediscovering the balanced biblical doctrine of sin, which is both personal and social. And finally, formatting the concept of justice that is in keeping with the bigger story of God’s redemptive mission, because social action “and evangelism are works of the church in the world. But social justice issues, while vital, do not constitute the totality of what God intends for a covenantal relationship with his people and his world” (189-90).What a way to spend most of Black History Month, to be reading “Liberating Black Theology” written by an African-American thinker and theologian! This book is essential reading by denominational movers and shakers who want to help their denominations make godly, wholesome strides in racial reconciliation; for black and African theologians and pastors who desire to fortify their people; as well as Anglo and Hispanic and Asian theologians and pastors! This introductory work on the subject could well become a sound and solid entry point for better ways of thinking and acting on ethnicity in the church, and race within society. I warmly commend this book!

Good read-Anthony Bradley does a wonderful job of providing a critical analysis of Black Liberation Theology from the likes of Cone and others who eisegete scripture to fit within their theological framework.

Every American must read this book. Until I attended a speech by the Rev Dr Jeremiah Wright on February 19, 2015, I had no idea what "black church" and "black theology" referred to. However, I think they refer to the consequence of James Cones books in 1969 and afterwards, renewed in 2010. The idea is that the fact that white Christianity did not come to the aid of American slaves is evidence that the Christian god is black and black Americans (not other blacks) will reign supreme. That being accepted, no black should allow himself or herself to be influenced by "whitey," a term that extends beyond persons to a culture of Western Bible interpretation. It is a brand of Marxism; it encourages the individual to dedicate her/his lifetime to a separatist culture based on a narrow view of the past that can rob the individual from collaboration with a civic people in this land to enjoy for now and the future the possible combination personal liberty and domestic goodwill. I have no idea how many Americans are influenced by black liberation theology.

I liked this book so much I bought the printed copy. To my disappointment, the hardcover copy I received from Amazon was printed on newsprint-like paper, with gray-scale print and graphics and images. Please see the attached pics. I called the publisher, Wiley, at the number provided in the book and they said the book is not supposed to look like this. They suggested buying directly from Wiley, as someone is providing Amazon with bad copies. If you want to read this book, buy the e-book and take some time to figure out how to buy the properly printed book - either in person at a bookstore, or maybe used version that is properly printed ?

Reads like a text book, we'll be referencing this one for a while. And now for seven more words why

I enjoyed reading most of the book. I wish the content made connections to the the arts/nonprofit industries more often but a lot of the information can be adapted.

The content of the book is interesting, but there are two things about the book that I hate. First, the gray color of the leaves and the illustrations of low quality. Second, the author very often uses jargon and informal words, which make me read the book accompanied by a dictionary.

A great overview of all the different marketing channels, with good insight.

Not all beat up and falling apart. Came in great shape and I am happy with that.
