This book was very easy to read and understand, which makes it a very useful tool.The main purpose of this book is to help the reader come to terms with their own thoughts and emotions and the five step process (outlined and shown through case histories in great detail) is easy to learn and adapt to.I found this book very helpful and will continue to use the five step method for a good while. It's not a quick-fix solution to letting go of negative emotions and gaining more happiness, but it does work and you'll begin to see results immediately.Much praise to the author!

This book is written to help parents and teens bridge the communication gap. The warm, conversational tone is easy to read and will appeal to both parents and young readers because there is no judgment being made - no one is 'right' or 'wrong' -- simply 5 steps to help you understand your emotions, why communication has broken down and how to get out of this adversarial corner you find yourself in after a no-win parent/teen confrontation.While aimed at teens - and mainly at mothers and daughters, I think this book is useful with preteens - perhaps reading the book with a parent or teacher and discussing the 5 steps. As a former teacher, I would recommend this book to parents - and kids - because it teaches life skills in understanding and getting along with people. And as an author of self-help books for women, i know I am going to be referencing this book and Ms. Letran's smart, simple way to help anyone step back, take a breath, and gain some clarity on what they're feeling and what they want - and need - to say, and why. An excellent book, recommended to anyone who wants better conversations - and happier outcomes!

This book is wonderful because it speaks directly to the heart. It offers practical and actionable advice on how parents and teens can better understand and approach one another. I like it that it is short and specific and that it really makes you question your own thoughts and attitudes towards problems you face in life. I wish I had access to something like this while growing up. I could also tell while reading that the author has a lot of experience dealing with teenagers and parents -- while reading some of the character's monologues, it felt as if she was reading my mind!

I have to say, for someone who gave her mother hell as a teenager and has been in therapy 12 years, my mother has read a lot of books like this, but I haven't. Several of my therapists have given me homework, but never any reading assignments, even though I always bring a book to read in the waiting room and sometimes, we talk about books. I've never actually read a book like this before, even though I sent my mother screaming to the book store for one more times than she would care to discuss in polite companyThis book is meant to be a simple, 5 steps for better relationships and happiness. The steps are simple and I could see how this could be helpful for some who like these kinds of books, so I rated it at 4 stars because I could see how this book helping people. My personal preference is still to drive to my therapists office and just talk everything out in the allotted time provided

I know firsthand that Jacqui’s first book can help teens. Now, having read her second book, I believe it can help teens and adults on the path to reclaiming their happiness. The book is really 5 simple questions for each one of us to explore as we deal with negative emotions. Jacqui presents a variety of case studies to illustrate for her readers how detrimental emotions can wreck your life. I am not a fan of "self-help" books, but Jacqui's are the exception. They are not long, but they are powerful if you choose to put her message to work in your life.

My daughter loved this book. It has helped a lot.

This is a must read for anyone struggling with their parent/child relationship. This book gives you useful tools to repair and improve your relationship.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is a quick and easy read with so many good tips on how to reclaim your happiness.

if you want to learn Algorithms, you should read CLRS introduction to Algorithms.But if you want to learn how to design algorithms yourself then the book you need to read is this one by Udi Manber.The approach taken by the writer is unique and to my opinion better than any other Algorithm's books I've seen.The writer tries to teach the reader how to design algorithms through the usage of mathematical induction - hence the words "A creative approach".I find this book to be so good, that even though I've read most of the chapters already I keep coming back to it.This is a must read for anyone who aspires to be a computer scientist.

I always wanted a book which would teach how to design algorithms, rather than just state the algorithm. CLRS while comprehensive states the algorithm first and then formally establishes correctness. While this is how most papers/books are written, I am not a big fan of such an approach. I instead prefer a tight connection between an algorithm and its proof of correctness. Udi is a master of this, and he does this very well in this book.I must admit I have not yet read a large portion of this book. But I have read a majority of Chapter 5, which is the core chapter of this book, and I am already impressed. Thanks a lot Udi Manber for writing this jewel.

I wonder why this book is not as popular as it should be. Although the CLR is the mandatory book of most introduction to algorithm classes, it does not say much of how they came up with those algorithms which is the role of this book. The unique interesting thing is it uses induction to explain how each algorithm was developed, however I guess it's not the primary objective of the author. He wanted readers to read the description of the problems that those algorithms try to solve, and learn to apply induction to solve them on their own. If you like solving puzzle, you will love it.

Just a great book to start learning how to formulate algorithms. All CS students and those interested in algorithms should at least try to work through a chunk of this book. I wish there were more university and MOOC courses around these ideas.

He set this goal for himself at age nine, when he saw a mural on the wall of his elementary school and wondered what it would be like to stand on each of those peaks. My 12 year old boy read this book over the summer as part of required summer reading. He loved the book, and found it enjoyable and inspirational. Now, months later, he still occasionally brings it up when he's dealing with issues that involve perseverance or challenge. It's a book I'm glad he read.

This is a great book! I am 70 years old and bought it for my grandson. Decided to read it first and soglad I did. What an amazing young man and hats off to his parents for doing a great job! Really liked the format of the book where it just told the story of each summit and not a lot of extra fluff to ruin this wonderful story. Thank you Jordan. I will be talking about this book for a long time.

This is an incredible story about a young man who was inspired to pursue a truly phenomenal dream. All the pieces were in place: Growing up in Big Bear, California, where he could train year-round; a medically trained father who pursued endurance races around the world; a step mom with the training, skills and background to be the logistical backbone for their "Team"; a mom who nurtured and supported her son even though she was very much aware of the dangers his pursuit would bring; and finally a community of supporters that truly put his goals within reach."No Summit Out of Sight" is as entertaining as it is inspirational and I plan to have all three of my own children read it as well. Written in an easy-going style but with sufficient detail to help the reader feel like they are actually there, this book will be an enjoyable read for pre-teens and up. I believe this book will help children and adults alike to "Find your Everest"

Having trekked in Nepal, I was hooked on this book about a young, but determined, boy who set a big goal-to hike all 7 summits. Geared for young adults, it's still a wonderful read for adults too. Amazing what Jordan Romero accomplished and fascinating to get his perspective on the difficult climbs and training routines.

This is a wonderful book about a uniquely special young man. He came to my school with intelligence and character. He always walked his own walk and when he saw the mural at Lucerne Valley Elementary school his dream became a goal. This book is an easy read for young people and adults. It flows so well and keeps you reading eagerly to find out what will happen next. Each summit has its own lure and Jordan and Ms. Le Blanc tell the story well.I remember reading a book in 4th grade as well as another reviewer stated that made me want to take an adventure like the boy in the story. Every school child, and school library should have a copy of this book.

My 12 year-old son has to read non-fiction for his AR program at middle school. He usually groans and complains about his non-fiction books, but he loved this one! Told in the voice of a teen, it read like an adventure novel. And it inspired my son to start working toward his own goals.

From the first page, I was captivated by young Jordan Romero's adventures as he reached the tallest places on earth. Gripping, often funny details of a family's treks around the world. I was truly inspired by Jordan's focus on setting -- and attaining -- goals that were often treacherous. I also enjoyed seeing how family members supported one another in the face of daunting physical and emotional challenges. This is truly a strong story about pursuing one's dreams despite great odds. Jordon's dream developed another layer to his character, and made him aware that many, many people around the world live a far different life than the average American. A good read for young teens and adults alike. Well written in first person. I am anxious to start reading another book by Linda LaBlanc, 'Four Teens Challenge Everest'. While this next one is fiction, the subject matter is similar. Well done Linda LaBlanc!!

I'm not a "read the book" type person. These were confusing to me and they did not exactly follow the teacher manual. I was so confused that I put all these aside for another time and switched to simple worksheets for my 1st grader. If you're the type who likes to read manuals that say "say this or that to your child", it works great, but not me. I can't stand books like that.

We have been homeschooling with Saxon for several years because it builds on skills a little at a time. There is review often along with new material. It’s an easy math to teach and everything that is enjoyable about math without the Common Core craziness. Good, old fashioned, usable and practical math.

I can not say enough about Saxon Math, we have used this curriculum for years! The manipulatives are fantastic and the kids enjoy learning with them and even the workbook! The incremental based program builds and gives them confidence throughout their math years!

Saxon Math is great! Love that it builds throughout the year and students return to previously learned skills for continued practice.

I use these for my kids. They are great! No distracting pictures. Just the needed information. My kids enjoy the routine exercises.

Great price! I wish the paper was of better quality, but so long as my girls don't use an eraser too vigorously, everything's great!

The last 1/3 of the book - a directory of medical conditions - is well done. Unfortunately, the first 2/3 of the book is marred by the ineffective use of color in the illustrations. Instead of using color to highlight anatomical features (as is done in the directory), the illustrator just uses a blob of color to highlight certain regions, which actually obscures the anatomy rather than clarifies it. I gave the book 4 stars for effort, nevertheless. Given the vast number of ailments to which humans are subject, it's not clear what criteria were used to decide what was included in the book.

I only rate this low because it's not what I thought it would be--my husband made me a list of books he wanted for Christmas and I think he thought this was an actual book when it's really just a pamphlet for grade school or middle school aged kids. To be fair, I didn't read any reviews prior to buying this or I would have alerted my husband and told him to pick something else.

The author presents amazing, true details on the workings of the Supreme Court, along with an overview of its justices. An interesting read for early elementary children.

Ok book if your a second grader. The discription of the book needs to be more clear about the level intended for the reader of the book. I place it on the same level as "See spot run." I would not even give this to the kid I got it for. That would have been an insult to him.

Clear and easy to read compilation of the qualifications and duties of the US Supreme Court.

The United States Supreme Court is made up of "nine judges known as justices." The court they serve under together is the "highest court in the land." They receive thousands of requests, but can only review and rule on a handful in the scheme of things because if they tried they would simply be overwhelmed and ineffective. It is a very special honor to be elected to the Supreme Court and once elected, they serve for the rest of their lives. Our government is made up of three branches: the legislative (they make the laws), the executive (they carry out the laws) and the judicial (they interpret the laws and make sure "they are used and applied fairly.")This is a "True Book." In the front it has two sentences, only one of which is true. You'll have to read the book in order to find the true one, but in the process you'll learn all about the Supreme Court. In this book you'll learn about the appeal process and how a case gets to the Court, what types of cases they accept, its early origin, you'll learn about the lower courts, our thirteen circuit courts, who appoints them, the power they yield (i.e., John Marshall's), famous cases and what goes on in the Supreme Court today. Which chief justice was appointed to the court, but did not serve? You'll really have to scour the book to find the answer to this question!This is an excellent overview of the Supreme Court. It is very well researched and set up in an easy to follow format. There is a 2006 portrait of the Supreme Court justices, but this book is not about specific members, but about the court itself. Scattered throughout the book are interesting facts, numerous informative sidebars, photographs, illustrations, a court circuit map (1790) and a timeline of famous justices. In the back of the book there is a statistics page, a list of important words (highlighted in bold print throughout the book), an index and additional recommended book and website resources. "Oyez! Warning: Do not start reading this book, or Air Awakens, if you have things that need done or need to be up for work in the morning!Obviously I had trouble putting either book down and it left me short on sleep! These books are amazing! The characters are well-rounded, obviously well thought out and well written. They are also human with all the foibles, failures and joys we go through. It is very difficult to believe the author is just starting her career!To understand everything going on you need to read the books in order, which means starting with "Air Awakens". Be prepared, however; Book three won't be out until Feb '16 and you may have a hard time waiting patiently for the next book. I know I will be waiting anxiously and impatiently for Feb. I'll just have to keep re-reading books 1 & 2!

Some people were disappointed with this next installment of the Air Awakens series, and I suppose I can understand why even if I don't share the sentiment. From the way things were set up in book #1 and the way the cover and blurb were set up, it seemed like this book would bring us into the war and fighting and all that stuff and start getting a faster, action-packed pace.Instead, the pace in book #2 is much like that of book #1 in the sense that the author is taking the time to use the events occurring during the army's march to the North to give substance to the story with lots of scenes and details added in, building up the story with content that draws in readers for a more immersing, intense experience instead of just jumping from one major plot event to the next. This is something I personally like because I always chose content over rapid-fire pacing. I'd much rather have time with the characters to grow to care about them than to get into a series that smooths over this stuff just to move quickly ahead with the major plot developments, so I think this slower pace soaked with information and character development and all that good stuff is commendable and works very well for me as a reader. The author also really focuses on Vhalla and Aldrick as people and their relationship in this book, which I personally really wanted to read about a lot since book #1 just touched on this and didn't give me the fully satisfactory relationship developments I wanted. There's also ample time dedicated to the side characters, which is nice, because while I would love constant Vhalla + Aldrick time to sate the sappy romantic in me, it's the mark of a good writer to be able to breathe life into secondary characters and allow them time to exist for more than just ultra-convenient purposes and I can appreciate this. I wouldn't call book #2 a set up book like #1 was, but you definitely are seeing a build up to the actual war and Vhalla coming face-to-face with fighting on a true war front. There's training and marching and dealing with the rift between sorcerers and non-sorcerers, for example, and a good amount of time is dedicated to Vhalla dealing with the effects of her trauma and experiences, her nightmares and feelings and internal turmoil.As I'm sure you can tell, part of why I loved this book was all the time dedicated to Vhalla and Aldrick; there's tension and turmoil and doubt and lots of feelings and both of them struggling with stuff but eventually coming together and trying to get a handle on what it means to love one another and be together all while Aldrick is the crown prince and Vhalla is a war-tool that belongs to the crown. It's an interesting insight into Aldrick to be in all these scenes with Vhalla, you get a sense that he understands well that he needs to put on a mask as a crown prince, but he drops this in front of Vhalla to reveal to her his regrets and sorrows and loneliness and all those soft, secret feelings he could show and share with no one out of fear he'd be rejected or misunderstood or have someone use them against him somehow. It's also interesting to watch Vhalla deal with all this and enter into a world where she has to be secretive and quiet about her affections and deal with separation and denial and tell lies because of the vulnerability she creates within Aldrick and the wrath of the emperor they could bring down upon themselves for their mutual love and respect. I'm actually really liking how this all unfolds because we're not hit with "instant love" that's more or less just extreme physical attraction and we're not presented with a perfect relationship: they both struggle and doubt and feel sadness and hurt and jealousy and shock and they're floundering, trying to find their barrings in an emotional territory neither of them has ever been through before, but the sincerity and feelings are all there. I prefer to read about this kind of romance because it feels natural and gives me enough time to believe through their scenes together that this is genuine.Also, one big kicker that I'm sure saddened or enraged many was the abrupt and intense cliffhanger. It was brutal to be honest. But since I cleverly waited until all the books were released, this isn't really an issue for me since I have book #3 sitting right next to me ready to be opened and read as soon as I finish typing my review for book #2.All in all, this is my favorite book so far. I enjoyed reading it and polished it off in a single sitting, though at times I had to take a break to let things sink in for a moment before continuing. I think this was a worthwhile installment in the story and it generally felt pretty whole too; some big conflicts were resolved, we had a nice climax, and now book #3 will take us into the next arc which I'm assuming is the true, full blown war effort. The cliffhanger doesn't give you a nice wrapped up ending looking towards the next book, but I think from that period on you can fully say Aldrick and Vhalla are in the midst of a war and will be dealing with a new slew of problems that come along with being important figures in said war. I'm excited for book #3, but also a little nervous because I can't help but fear that there will be more turmoil and conflict before there's smooth sailing and any sign of a happy ending in sight.

Yooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, this book..(tears fall down from eyes) is really SOMETHING. Perfect. People DIE, no mercy,(hello blood) just straight up raw emotions. Characters FIGHT like never before. AND THE ACTION IS ON POINT. Romance is turned UP, just splendid, just...omg...omg..Beautiful. This book will make you cry, so much stuff happens and the ending just screwed me over. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK.!!! I loved it. I loved it. I loved it. This whole series was my gateway. Aldrick is sexy as hell, just everything about him is just amazing. Where are guys in my generation like that? This guy will really be down for you and hold you down!!!! He has a heart and the way he loves and cares about Valla is breathtaking. Valla is my girl, she is a beast and fierce heroine, she is the real deal. Laurel is extremely sweet and lovable.. And the rest of the characters are real, alive, the author brings them to life. Every character is meaningful and has aPurpose. And the action, fighting scenes I loved it, I loved It, I loved it. A perfect blend. However, there are some shocking parts that will make you cry. Or die. This story is just that deep. Great writing. There better not be a movie, I don't want them messing up this piece up this of literature. I'll stick with the books.
