With gratitude, I've found this book to be inspiring and has given me hope and encouragement to continue on my own path as I continue to age. Thank you Wagman-Geller!

The biographies are very short, and some of the women mentioned are Julia Child, Mother Theresa, Judge Judy, Rita Moreno, Golda Meir, Grandma Moses, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and others.I found this book very interesting and entertaining. It is wonderful to see how women of all careers, occupations, and ages can make a huge difference. I would recommend this easy to read book for those readers who enjoy biographies.
Loved this book. Made me feel connected to a larger universe where I'm not the only one who screws up, makes poor choices or has a stronger last 50 than first 50!
Amazing womanShort stories loaded with information
Marlene Wagman-Geller has given the world another amazing gift of her writing through her latest book, "Great Second Acts: In Praise of Older Women." I have been a huge fan of not only the writing and work of this author, but her dedication to the pursuit of the truth and the full story. Her support of great females in our culture and history is more important now than ever. She researches her work extensively and truly gets to the true story of the people she profiles. I have referenced her work and the untold stories she told to countless people I have come across. She never disappoints in telling the story behind the stories we may commonly know. This book should be required reading in high school and college classes. My daughter is in high school and has read several of this author's books, and she is getting this one for Christmas. My daughter has said that reading Wagman-Geller's books about women has empowered her to seek her own greatness and inspired her to achieve her goals against odds, just like many of the women did that she has read about thanks to Marlene Wagman-Geller's work.I respect and admire the work that Wagman-Geller has done and the deeply important information she provides is wrapped up in her fascinating and riveting writing. Every story she tells is compelling and unique, the kind that really make you think about long after you are done reading. This author has absolutely become the master storyteller of the story behind the story. You may think you know the story of some of the subjects in this book, but I am confident you will be blown away by what you read about their full stories.Everything about this book is as entertaining and delightful as it is informational and compelling. Both men and women and girls and boys should read this book and all of Wagman-Geller's books.
This was a fascinating collection of stories of strong women who accomplished amazing things after the age of 50 - an age that a lot of people seem to think is the run up to the old-age pension or something. Since I am in that age bracket myself, I was curious to know who the stars of this book were.I have to confess that I hadn't heard of some of these ladies and many more, I didn't know more than the basics about them, something which this book has rectified, to a large extent. There was one woman in this tome though who had all the signs of being a raging narcissist - I did a lot of eye-rolling throughout that chapter, I have to admit! I quite like the fact that each chapter starts with the year of birth of each woman and a couple of words which should give you a hint, but you don't know actually who the author is writing about until, sometimes, quite far into the chapter.This was a good read, and it made me think that if these women can do what they do, then surely I can manage my much-less spectacular life, right? Or at least, worry a lot less about other people's opinions whilst going about my business, something that I am finding more and more anyway, since I turned 50 :) The body might be weak, but the spirit keeps on getting stronger!
